Steal Like an Artist is Awesome

Each year I buy myself a birthday gift because I know exactly what I want, and it is a great excuse to buy myself something. This year I treated myself to a stack of books, really awesome books!

One of the best books in my stack is Steal Like an Artist by Austin Kleon. It is fabulous! It is short, sweet, straight to the point and filled with lots of inspiring information!

My very favorite suggestion in the book comes from a quote by Harold Ramis, “Find the most talented person in the room, and if it’s not you, go stand next to him.” Austin Kleon follows this up beautifully with, “If you ever find you’re the most talented person in the room, you need to find a new room.”

This quote has really made me think about the people I surround myself with. It has reminded me of all the creative people I know, that I simply can not pull myself away from! The people whose minds are on fire with ideas! Wild and crazy ideas that spark a creative fire in my mind!

This little book has made me really appreciate my creative mind and my creative life a little bit more. You don’t have to be an artist to appreciate this book; it is for everyone!

So do something nice for yourself today and buy Steal Like an Artist. Your creative spirit totally deserves it!  -Carly

About Mountain Light Jewelry

My name is Carly Burke and I am a jewelry artist living in the Blue Ridge Mountains of VA. I turned my hobby into a business September 2009 and have enjoyed using mostly copper and argentium silver wire and semi precious stones to create unique wearable art. I have also appreciated the challenge of jewelry photography, marketing, selling and learning to be a salesman.
